The escort vehicle’s function is to warn other road users, including pedestrians of the presence of an abnormal load, as well as to maintain ongoing contact with the driver of the abnormal load. On motorways and dual carriageways, an escort vehicle should be positioned to the rear of the abnormal load, at a distance to give adequate warning to other road users of the load.
Loads that are or exceed 3.5m (12') wide are required to carry an attendant and need to be escorted on all single carriage ways and some Police constabularys including Essex are now requiring escorts on dual carraige ways. This is not only enforacble by the law but it enables us to deliver the load safely to you. Even some 10' wide loads need escorting on certain routes.
Some larger homes normally over 14' wide require a police escort all this we can arrange. We work closely with the Highways Agency and Police Constabularys throughout the country on a daily basis and all routes are planned using surveys, knowledge and up to date information.
Aswell as Escorting our own loads we also provide a Pilot / Escort vehicle services outside contractors for the movement of High, Heavy & Abnormal Indivisable Loads to ensure your loads are transported in a Safe, Efficent, Cost Effective manner. Fully complining with the newly devidsed code of practice established jointly by the Highways Agency, the Association of Cheif Police Officers and the trade associations.
